Art + Recycling Community Pilot Program

We’re on a mission to transform how communities approach recycling and sustainability. Our community pilot programs are designed to inspire action, foster collaboration, and create real impact, right where you live, work, or play.

This community program aims to boost recycling rates and foster community engagement through a unique blend of art and gamification. The core idea revolves around local artists decorating recycling bins, transforming them into vibrant, eye-catching pieces of public art. These artistically enhanced bins then become central to a community-wide initiative where residents are encouraged to actively recycle using these bins.

The “gamification” element comes into play with the Topper Stopper™ units, which allow the community to vote for their favorite bin designs while they are recycling. The screens on the Topper Stopper™ units will present the person recycling with a QR Code to participate in the voting process. This creates a fun, interactive competition that not only incentivizes participation in recycling but also celebrates local artistic talent and builds a sense of collective ownership and pride in the community’s sustainability efforts. In essence, it’s about making recycling an engaging, visually appealing, and rewarding experience.

There is also a potential for creating rewards for people participating in the voting through local businesses in the community.

Recycle Smart Monitoring System™

The Recycle Smart Monitoring System™ (RSMS) provides a method to measure the fullness of a recycling bins. The Topper Stopper™ units equipped with RSMS determine the depth of an empty bin, then check the bin depth at specified intervals. Notifications are sent out via text message and/or email when bins reach a specified level of fullness. This works on varying sizes of bins because the system obtains the depth each time a bin is emptied (or replaced).
